The GS1-D is a delay module that provides two types of customisable delay.
Based on the PT2399 digital delay IC with a delay from 30ms to 340ms, the standard “delay” mode allows for normal echo/delay effects that can range from a flanger (short delay) to a classic dirty delay. The IC itself is used on countless guitar effects pedals but is now hard to find. Any partial kit orders come with the IC provided.
In the delay mode, you have control over wet/dry mix of the signal, the delay time, from long to short and the number of repeats that are heard. The repeats lets you have just one or two delayed repeats, or a huge number – at which point the IC gets somewhat overloaded and the resulting tones can be a little distorted/muddied as a result – which you may of course like!

Chorus?
For want of a better term, we’ve called the second mode a ‘chorus’ – the idea was to modulate the repeats of the delay by using two different (selectable) waveforms. Both triangle and sine are on hand for this and you can think of these as a kind of LFO that modulates the delay.
Since the speed of this modulation needs controlling, the “rate” pot provides you the abilty to have a subtle warble through to a crazy detune style effect. This one really needs some tweaking to get the most out of it.
Here is a quick demo of an early prototype, before the chorus had the selectable waveform – here this is just the triangle when we go into chorus mode.
